Environmentally friendly fuels

When it comes to driving utility machines, efficiency and reliability are key. However, that doesn’t mean you have to compromise on the environment. With the right environmentally friendly fuels, you can achieve optimal performance while minimising your environmental impact.

At Egholm, we are working towards making our utility machines more sustainable. The goal is to enable customers to switch to environmentally friendly fuels such as HVO biodiesel and E85 petrol. We are already well on our way and currently the Egholm Park Ranger 2150 and City Ranger 3070 engines are approved for HVO100 fuel.

Biodiesel HVO100

Hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO)

HVO100 biodiesel is known for its high quality, efficiency and reliability. HVO100 fuel is a high-performance biodiesel developed to deliver maximum efficiency and reliability in a variety of operating conditions. The fuel has a high energy density, which means it can produce more energy per litre compared to other types of fuel. HVO100 has a similar energy content and performance properties to diesel, ensuring sufficient traction and range.

Is Biodiesel HVO100 environmentally friendly?

HVO100 has an impressive environmental profile. It is carbon neutral, which means that the carbon released by combustion is already absorbed during the cultivation of the vegetable oils. This makes HVO100 an excellent choice for companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.

What is biodiesel HVO100 made of?

HVO100 Biodiesel is made from 100% recycled biological material such as animal waste fat from the food industry, fish oil from waste fish, vegetable oils, corn residues, rapeseed oil, soya bean oil, used cooking oil and much more, making it 100% fossil-free.

Why choose biodiesel HVO100?

HVO100, or Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, is a type of biodiesel that is often considered a sustainable alternative to conventional fossil fuels like diesel. There are many good reasons to choose HVO100 as a fuel:

Sustainability
HVO100 is made from vegetable oils, fats and animal oils. These sources are renewable and can be collected and recycled, reducing dependence on non-renewable fossil fuels and cutting carbon emissions by up to 90%.

Lower greenhouse gas emissions
HVO100 has up to 33% lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional diesel fuel. The production of HVO also involves a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. This helps to combat climate change.

Reduction of local air pollution
Using HVO100 can help reduce local pollution levels in urban areas as it produces fewer harmful exhaust gases such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter.

Is biodiesel HVO100 as efficient as diesel?

Cleaner combustion
HVO100 biodiesel burns cleaner than diesel fuel, resulting in lower maintenance costs and longer engine life. HVO100 biodiesel is also known for its good cold-starting properties, which is important in colder climates. Fewer particles and pollutants are released into the atmosphere, improving air quality and reducing health risks for both humans and the environment.

Good performance
HVO100 has similar energy content and performance properties to diesel fuel, meaning it can provide sufficient traction and range for utility machines and attachments.

Can be mixed with conventional fuels
HVO100 can be mixed with conventional diesel in various ratios, allowing for a gradual transition to more sustainable fuels.

Long-term savings
Although HVO100 biodiesel may be slightly more expensive per litre compared to regular diesel, the long-term savings from reduced maintenance and possible tax incentives can offset the cost.

Increasing availability
HVO100 is gradually becoming more available in many regions as governments and companies work to promote the use of sustainable fuels.

Overall, HVO100 biodiesel is an attractive choice for industries that use diesel-powered equipment. Not only does it offer significant environmental benefits, but it also doesn’t require large investments in modifying existing machinery. So, if your company is committed to reducing its environmental impact while saving money, HVO100 biodiesel is the perfect fuel choice.

Egholm and the UN Sustainable Development Goals
The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals has set the course for a sustainable development and, at Egholm, we have elected to focus on four goals to which we can contribute and make a difference - goal 12 is one of them:

Goal 12 - Responsible consumption and production
At Egholm, we are constantly working to optimise our production methods in a more sustainable direction. Around 97% of the total CO2 emissions are from the use of machinery during its service life, which is why it is the primary focus area in our ambition to reduce our carbon footprint, both in the short and longer-term.

One of the ways is to make it possible for existing customers to switch to environmentally friendly fuels, and Egholm is also in the process of developing the utility machines of the future, where the propulsion is based on non-fossil fuels.
